FREE and EASY  SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS to make your life easier – for NON-Techies!

In the last 3 days I have read articles on “26 Social Media Marketing Tips from the Pros” and “21 Social Media Tool and Technology Tips That Will Make Your Day.”

26 tips??  21 tips??!!

Do I look like I have all week to spend on this??  Get Real.

So here are my 3 FREE and EASY social media tips that you can do right now to make your life easier, not screw it up. No big technology knowledge is necessary.

Social Media Apps

Does your inbox
look like mine?

Is your email inbox piling up with things that you should read but don’t have time to right this minute?  There are a couple of things you can do:

1.   You can make a second email address so that you can route all your ads and non-personal stuff there.  I did this, and gmail makes it so easy. Now I can see all my personal email fast (in my first email) and get to all the other stuff later.  If you are going to get active on LinkedIn, you need to do this!  (To get rid of the mess that is in your personal account, spend a little time opening all the non-personal stuff on your first email and rerouting it to the second one — your life will be so much more pleasant.)

2.  You can download POCKET free, and when you get articles like “20 million social media tips” that you certainly want to read later, you can put it in your POCKET where it will be saved for you until you come and read it. Less pressure. (You just have to remember to look in your POCKET, of course.) You can install it on your iPad and iPhone, too, so that even when you’re out and about, you can POCKET things.

Here’s a tip when you sign into POCKET — you don’t have to download anything — you can just click your cursor on the little yellow tag and drag it up to the top of your screen.  It will stay there, and when you open the “20 million social media tips” in your email, you can just click on the  +Pocket  at the top of your screen, and the article will be saved.

You need to know if people are talking about you and/or your brand, web, blog, etc.  You can spend hours looking through all the social media sites, or you can download MENTION free. It tracks you through all the main social media sites and reports back to you.  You tell it what you want it to look for, and it searches.

Why? Because you need to know what people find interesting about you, what’s working in your marketing efforts, or whether you need to correct false information right away.  Or if you are just a person, not a business, you might like to know if your name pops up somewhere.

Social Media Tips - foursquare

Foursquare is so easy a child can do it.
Wait, they already do!

Tired of going the same old restaurant but you don’t want to drive very far? Want some suggestions on things to do? Do what millions are starting to do – log into www.foursquare.com.  Type in whatever you would like to see, like “Arts” and see what comes up.   (I typed in “Arts” and I have to admit, I was a little surprised to see the Belly Up Tavern on the list, but they are ranked an 8.9 and have The Milk Carton Kids performing this weekend. I sure would have missed that one!)

Have a tourist visiting you, or are you a tourist somewhere else?  Click on “Sights” and see everything there is to see in your area of interest, ranked by actual people who have been there and done that.  It’s so EASY!

This could save you a bunch of time, and if your tourist visitors take a look before they come to see you, they can choose what is most interesting to them – it all makes your life easier.
