What the heck does a Social Media Marketing Expert do?

Social Media Marketing Expert: Do you need one?

Do you keep hearing more and more about the billions of people responding to social media marketing and all the millions of people that you could reach by using more of it? Maybe you have been figuring that you could just have a Facebook business page — well okay, a Google+ page too– and ignore the new sites and apps that pop up by the thousands every day?

This is not a social media marketing device

This is not a social media marketing device.

But you’re counting the share buttons that are appearing on other sites and seeing that you need to cope with 8 or more sites (and multiplying), so now maybe you’re figuring you could just hire a “social media marketing expert” to take care of everything for you.

When I set off on my quest last year ago to stop complaining about my cellphone and maybe even catch up with some of the web stuff so that I wouldn’t appear to be so clueless, I never dreamed how much I didn’t know. Did you see the article in the newspaper about the kid who made $1 BILLION on his tumblr deal? Have you even HEARD of tumblr?  Even the Wall Street Journal has articles on Oovoo, which I promptly downloaded but haven’t had time to try. And every small business is being told “You have to write a blog!” So…do you have time?

Maybe the easy solution is just to hire someone else to worry about all these things so that you can sit in your lawn chair sipping an umbrella drink (my idea of hog heaven).  What would your expert be like, and what would he/she know and do?   Jeff Bullas writes about social media things, and he published the infographic shown below from schools.com that explains everything about what social media marketing expert does, with pictures...which certainly helps people like me figure the whole social media marketing thing out:    (and hey, would you mind sharing this blog post by pressing 2 or 3 of the 2,000 share buttons at the end?)

Interesting. SCORE counselors – your comments?

  2. Hi Nathaniel, Thanks for reading! I get some strange comments, but most are complementary. Most blogs have an edit feature in case you can’t post something. So that’s what I do if I have to, but most are nice about it. best to you, Cheri
